With historically high gold prices, collectable coins such as gold Krugerrands and Sovereigns are worth several times their value of two decades ago.
We've had great success selling Royal Mint Gold Proof sovereign sets, Harrington & Byrne and Westmonster collections, and various world gold coins. Other Pre-1923 silver coinage (such as Crowns and Florins) in good condition can also far exceed value by weight, witness the single 1847 Victorian 'Undecimo' Crown which sold for £920.
Stamp collections can still also achieve good auction prices and are worth appraising by our experienced specialist Craig Bennett. Whilst general 'childhood' collecting albums stuck in on stamp hinges are often of nominal value only, a collection of GB Victorian and later mint and used stamps including Queen Victoria Penny Blacks and Penny Reds sold in 2024 for a hammer price of £2,000. Another Stanley Gibbons Windsor album containing early GB stamps commanded £1,100 on the rostrum.
