Royal Interest - Printed card easel portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Pietro Annigoni, the portrait depicting Her Majesty wearing the robes of the Order of the Garter against a pastoral landscape, 18cm x 27cm high
The original 1955 painting by Annigoni was commissioned by the City of London Livery Company, the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. It was first displayed in 1955 and was later loaned by the Fishmonger’s Company in 1958 and 1986, before the National Portrait Gallery’s 2012 exhibition. It is currently displayed at Fishmongers’ Hall, adjacent to London Bridge.
From the estate of Miss Peggy Gladys Hoath, formally Assistant Dresser to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Hoath joined the royal household in 1959 and was one of the few surviving staff to have worked with the young Queen, remaining at her side for 35 years.
Awarded the Medal of the Royal Victorian Order in silver (RVM) in the 1985 New Year Honours List.
Hoath passed away in December 2018.
