Sold with photocopy documentation on letterhead of Galerie Kornfeld, Bern, Switzerland, dated 23 August 2002, as signed by Eberhard W. Kornfeld, transcribed as follows: "I confirm that this series of 15 plates 'Les sept Peches capitaux' is by Marc Chagall, printed on wide margined paper, signed in pencil by the artist and marked 'Epreuve d'artiste', and pulled by the artist from the original plates. This series was executed in 1925 and published as a book in 1926. In 1956 the original copper plates were rediscovered. The artist decided to pull a few copies from these plates. These are the only signed copies from this 1956 pulling. When the Catalogue Raisonne of Chagall's graphic work was published in 1970, I was not aware of this separate series".
