SS Orient and the time of her launch, was the largest ship to be Clydebuilt ship constructed. Her maiden voyage took place on the 3rd November 1879 to Melbourne and Sydney and was completed in 27 days and 22 hour, which at the time was a record breaking time. She was later used as a troop ship during the Boer War in 1902. She was scrapped in 1910.
