The Willard got its name from the 1979 American epic war film Apocalypse Now. It was worn by the main protagonist, Captain Benjamin Willard, played by Martin Sheen. This watch model was chosen for Sheen's character due to its popularity amongst US servicemen at the time. The film undoubtedly helped the 6105-8110 to be synonymous with the Vietnam War.
