Mark has almost thirty years' immersion in antiques, having started his career as a Porter at Phillips in Edinburgh in the summer of 1997, following an MA with First Class Honours in Art History at the University of St. Andrews. A variety of general and specialist roles at auction have lead to a breadth of knowledge in diverse fields, including Furniture, Clocks, Paintings and Works of Art, Asian Ceramics, Silver and Jewellery.
Arriving at Clevedon Salerooms in 2018 as a General Valuer, Mark became a Senior Valuer in 2019 and was again promoted to the Board of Directors in 2021.
Mark regularly undertakes Probate valuation work on behalf of our many partner solicitors, as well as other home visits and significant collections, notably overseeing Country House sales such as the contents of Barrow Court and Gatcombe Court respectively.
Since becoming Director, we have been delighted to see a 50% growth in turnover within the business, as well as reaching the finals of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce Family Business of the Year 2025.
Mark divides his time between Probate valuations, home visits, management, cataloguing and auctioneering for all of our sales. As Director, he shares responsibility for implementing the forward-thinking changes that hopefully contribute to our continued growth and success.
As a Bristol (BS9) resident, Mark is also handily placed for attending many of our Bristol valuation days and local home visits in BS postcodes, as well as South Gloucestershire, South Wales, and further afield.
