William III or Queen Anne walnut and marquetry longcase clock, John Cotton, Strand, circa 1700, 11-inch square brass dial signed 'Iohn Cotton in ye Strande', with silvered chapter ring having Roman hours, Arabic minutes with track, half hour divisions, inner quarter hour track framing a matted centre with silvered subsidiary seconds dial over ringed winding arbours and terrestrial calendar square with engraved scroll surround, within baroque mask spandrels, the knopped and finned five-pillar movement internal countwheel-striking on a bell, the case having a caddy top over floral marquetry to hood and trunk doors, the latter decorated with tulips and other flowers, an urn and birds, with oval lenticle, the conforming base on later bracket feet, 221cm high, sold with two weights and pendulum
