In Focus: The Wine Auction

Clevedon Salerooms are delighted to offer an impressive ensemble of over 200 lots of fine wines and spirits in their June 1st Wine Auction.

The backbone of the sale is formed from the collection of Iann Barron C.B.E. from the cellars of Barrow Court, his collection features a wide selection of quality white Burgundies and Vintage Port.

Another major consignment consists of first-class Italian and world wine, which has until recently been professionally stored at LCB Dinton.

A highlight of the sale has to be three bottles of Jean-Louis Chave Ermitage ‘Cuvée Cathelin’, a high-prized wine rarely seen on the UK auction market. Only released in the finest years and limited to approximately two hundred cases per vintage, this is one of the world's most sought-after wines.

Amongst the traditional French wines we have a great selection of red and white Burgundies together with regular favorites such as Château Lafleur, 1994, Château Mouton Rothschild, 1967 and Château Pavie, 2015.

Italian wine has always been popular, and our auction has a plentiful choice of top-name wines from Piedmont, such as Bruno Giacosa, Roagna, Vietti, and Giuseppe Rinaldi.

The Champagne selection is led by a magnum of Vintage Krug, 1985 and Larandier-Bernier 2012 and 2011 vintages.

Dessert wines include the famous Hungarian Tokaj, one of the world's oldest, and perhaps, best sweet wine.

No wine auction would be complete without a lineup of vintage ports. We are fortunate to have some of the finest recent vintages, including 1977, 1983, and 1994 from the great producers Warre’s, Taylor’s, and Fonseca.

The auction will be held at Clevedon Salerooms on the 1st of June with online bidding available.
