Fine pair of 19th Century French porcelain vases

Fine pair of 19th Century French ormolu mounted Sevres style porcelain covered vases, painted by Eugene-Louis Sieffert, each of baluster form with waisted and fluted neck, foliate scroll and laurel wreath moulding to shoulder with twin ring handles, beaded strapwork leading down to acanthus leaves over spreading pedestal base, the bodies richly enamelled with opposing scenes of putti at play with gilt foliate borders reserved on a blue celeste ground, the domed cover with gilt highlights and acorn knop, mounted on ormolu canted base with scroll feet, 43.3cm high overall.

With handwritten letter of thanks from the previous owner (a member of the French nobility) to his solicitor, gifting the vases in recognition of his service, dated 24 June 1871. Thence by descent.
