Clevedon Salerooms' Henry Michallat Appointed Lord Mayor of Bristol

We are delighted to announce that Henry Michallat, auctioneer and valuer at Clevedon Salerooms, has been appointed The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol for 2025-2026.

This prestigious civic role recognises Henry's deep connection to the city and continues his family's century-long commitment to Bristol's cultural heritage.

Henry was born in 1998 and raised in north Bristol. His great-grandfather, François Michallat, arrived in the United Kingdom in 1908 before settling in Bristol during the 1920s. The family's connection to Bristol's antiques scene began with Henry's grandfather, who ran an antiques business from Clifton and acquired the iconic Clifton Observatory in 1979, which Henry's father later restored until his retirement in 2015.

"It's an honour to represent the historic and proud city of Bristol as Lord Mayor – the city my family and I have called home for over a century," says Henry, who will serve alongside his consort, Joshua Lickley, whom he met in 2021.

A Passion for Bristol's Heritage

Those who have worked with Henry at Clevedon Salerooms know his enthusiasm for objects with historical significance, particularly those connected to Bristol. Among the most noteworthy items he has handled are a pair of ceramic plates rescued from the former Mansion House on Queen Square during the Bristol Riots of 1831, and numerous paintings by celebrated Bristol artists.

This unique perspective, combining his professional expertise in evaluating historical artifacts with his civic pride, positions Henry perfectly for his mayoral role, where he will represent Bristol at ceremonial functions and promote the city's rich cultural offerings.

Henry will continue his work at Clevedon Salerooms during his mayoral term, bringing his characteristic enthusiasm and expertise to both roles. Clients can still contact him regarding valuations and auction inquiries at hm@clevedonsalerooms.com.

The entire team at Clevedon Salerooms congratulates Henry on this distinguished appointment and looks forward to supporting him throughout his mayoral year.
